Where to look if you are not in Cambria or Somerset County
This site lists A.A. meetings for Districts 41, 43 and 44 of Western Pennsylvania Area 60 — Johnstown, Cambria County and Somerset County — 11 towns: Ashville, Cresson, Ebensburg, Friedens, Holsopple, Johnstown, Loretto, Patton, Portage, Sidman, Somerset. That is the whole coverage, and it is deliberately bounded.
If you are somewhere else, our list will not help you, and we would rather say so than have you drive to the wrong county. For the rest of western Pennsylvania — Altoona, Bedford, Indiana, Westmoreland — try wpaarea60.org. For anywhere in the world, the meeting finder at aa.org or the free Meeting Guide app.
Where to look instead
The Meeting Guide app
Free, no ads, and maintained by A.A. General Service Office rather than by anybody selling anything. It carries over 100,000 meetings worldwide, refreshed from the same kind of feed this site uses, and it works wherever you happen to be standing. Available for iPhone and Android; search for "Meeting Guide" or start at aa.org.
Why we do not just list everybody
A meeting list is only worth having if it is right. Each district maintains its own and knows immediately when a group changes its time or folds — we would be copying a snapshot and slowly going stale, and someone would eventually drive to a church basement that has been dark for a year. Pointing you at the people who keep it current is the more useful answer, even though it is the less impressive-looking one.
If you are close to the line
Plenty of people cross district boundaries to get to a meeting, and no one will ever ask where you live. If you are near the edge of our area, our list may still be the closest thing to you — check the full list by town, or call (814) 283-4772 and describe where you are. Somebody will tell you honestly whether we are your nearest option or whether the next district over is.
Towns we do cover
Common questions
What area does johnstownaa.com cover?
Districts 41, 43 and 44 of Alcoholics Anonymous Western Pennsylvania Area 60 — that is Johnstown and Cambria County, northern Cambria County, and Somerset County. Our meeting list covers those and nothing else, deliberately.
Are there A.A. meetings in Altoona, PA on this site?
No. Altoona is in Blair County, a different district, and its meetings are not in our list. Area 60 covers the whole western half of Pennsylvania including Blair County — wpaarea60.org has the full list.
How do I find an A.A. meeting anywhere in the world?
Use the meeting finder at aa.org, or the free Meeting Guide app, which is maintained by A.A. General Service and carries over 100,000 meetings worldwide. Both work while travelling.
Why not just list meetings from nearby counties too?
Because a list that is slightly wrong is worse than one that is honestly bounded. Other districts maintain their own meeting information and know when a group moves or folds; we would be copying data we cannot keep current. Pointing you at the people who do keep it current is more useful than guessing.
